#Mac os 9 install torrent install#Is there an Apple Store anywhere near you? The MDDs are out of extended support I believe, but someone may be able to track down (or download?) a MDD install disk set. Your best bet is to either dig up the original install CDs and reinstall OS 9 from there, or look for a set online somewhere like craigslist or eBay (you can try the Agora but it's more of a longshot). If you have a MDD that can boot *into* OS 9, then it must be one of the non-FireWire 800 models, which require 9.2.2 at a minimum, but I can't recall offhand if the version that ships w/ the machine has extra enablers or not (and of course I can't find the software install CDs for either of ours at the moment). I eventually caved and restored the entire System Folder from a backup I took before rebuilding it. I ran into a similar situation not long ago when I decided to rebuild my old iBook - I have a 9.2.1 install CD, but it was too old to include all the custom iBook enablers. #Mac os 9 install torrent full#I probably migrated from a G3 system back in the day that had a full OS 9 install and just upgraded the OS X system continuously from there-OS 9 always just worked and I never gave a second thought about it.īut, maybe I'm wrong and I have to just install 10.2 with classic support? I don't really buy it, but what the hell, right?!? When installing from the OS 9.2.2 disk that came with the computer, it only installs about half of the typical control panels and an incomplete set of extensions. The discs have a system folder to boot from, but these only have the Startup Disk and AppleTalk control panels available. I think that some of the old control panels are only available or installed by running the full install script. As I mentioned before, I tried installing from an old OS 9.1, and an old OS 9.2.1 disk, but when I click the Install scripts, it says they are "unable to run on this computer." And the type of machine, which I believe was literally the last version of Mac able to boot from OS 9, does not allow installation of any other version of OS 9. I just think (or it seems that) the version of OS 9 provided with the computer is solely for Classic compatibility-it even says that you won't be able to boot from Classic (which is untrue). I really don't think that's the deal, though. What version of OS X comes with the original install disks? Maybe it has all the bits needed to support OS 9. How the heck do I get OS 9 (the full version) running on this thing?!? I had it running before, so it seems to be technically possible. Tried to Google somewhere to download these, but without success. But no joy on finding any way to install the Sound control panel or TCP/IP (or even things like the Control Strip). I manage to drag the AppleTalk control panel from my install disk and get networking to work. I must have migrated my system over from the previous desktop, and earlier computer I had to have OS 9 working fully. I can't install from an OS 9 disk other than the one that comes with the machine because it gives an error when I try to run the installer. Installing OS 9.2.2 from the install disk for the computer gives me a version of the system that is obviously only classic-mode compatible-no networking, no TCP/IP, no audio ability whatsoever (obviously, it would be relying on OS X to do all that). So I'll just install OS 9 and away we'll go. My daughter wants to play Baldur's Gate and some Mia Mouse games that only run in OS 9. #Mac os 9 install torrent mac os#Mac OS 9 was fully functional-internet connectivity through Mozilla some control over sound (although it was a bit buggy) full networking and you could run anything, like graphics intensive games that wouldn't run worth crap in the classic mode of OS X.Īt any rate, so I get a decent replacement hard drive, install 10.5.8 on it, replace the PRAM battery, and it's working fine. #Mac os 9 install torrent mac os x#Previous to this, I had my G4 tower able to dual-boot into Mac OS X or Mac OS 9.2.2. Also-in a cosmic instance of murphy's law-my external G-drive backup goes tits up at the exact same time!!! Major crap. A few months ago, my G4 Quicksilver with mirrored drive doors goes belly up-bad hard drive.
